I feel it fitting to end my long hiatus from blogging with a lovely post such as this. I congratulate the drop-dead gorgeous, Megan Young for bringing home the Miss World 2013 crown, which was a major source of pride and joy to the country that is stricken with war, corruption and natural disasters in the recent months. Janet Napoles must be very grateful. Megan dear, this post is all yours.

Despite the presence of negative people who will always find something hideous even in the most wonderful of things and circumstances, it cannot be denied how beautiful you are. Bless are the souls who keep on stirring old and lame issues of religion and skin colors. You folks are so boring. Keep calm and smell the flowers, shall we?Or play with your dogs, if that makes you feel better.

What a stunning photograph of the London sunset by an old friend, Maricel. This makes me look forward to another trip to the land of my most beloved royal goddess, the Duchess Catherine of Cambridge. I should write a fashion post about her because I just love this woman like fat-free marshmallows!

I had enough of the city’s touristy pit stops. All of them are worth visiting, though. And like I did, you might just walk in on two girls in one toilet cubicle with one of them bending over the sink with her bum exposed. Hmmm… And I have a bag too many of London key chains, fridge magnets, snow globes and what-nots.

Next time is the time for shopping. Not anymore at Primark, woman!

I have my eyes fixed on London’s reigning best vintage thrift store. What you will find in thrifts stores might surprise you in a nice way. My best find so far is a pre-loved pink Gucci bag from a Sunday market in Zurich. 🙂

SAG Awards Night

I almost never post any awards night review about red carpet dresses, but seeing “Dr. Sheldon Lee Cooper” looking oh-so-dashing and adorable got me very inspired.

He wore a Tweed three-piece suit and a black bow-tie and a smoldering pout with a bashful half-smile that Sheldon Cooper is very well-known for.

The use of unconventional materials for the suits seemed to be a fashionable trend among the gents. Justin Timberlake was officially making his sexy comeback in a plaid three-piece suit and a pretty boy hair.

Les Miserables’ Eddie Redmayne did not disappoint in a risque velvet number either. Though, the side stitches along his pants looked like they were about to rip.

This was definitely a hot man trend alert on the red carpet–facial hair in all its glory. The gruffier, the better, I suppose. Ben Affleck looked like he had not aged a day since I had fallen in love with him in Armageddon. And that was 14 years ago.

Now, let us take a look at the women. I did not really find a “wow” gown this time. They must have used all their best dresses during the Oscars or at Cannes.

For an unlikely choice, Tina Fey looked the most put together. The hair and the makeup made her look very healthy and cheerful. The accessories were as classy as her dress and they really complemented the whole outfit. I particularly loved her metallic belt. Metal on black looked like a very excellent choice. Isn’t that hair just perfect?

The old Hollywood glamour was a hot pick for the hair that evening, most especially the side-swept style in big curls. This woman looked really stunning in a black gown with playful cutouts and silhouettes. Again, note the gold and platinum metals for her accessories.

I cannot sufficiently explain why I love this gown on her. I guess this looked rather fresh among the ocean of complicated designs and long trains of silks and tulle. This looked simple, very feminine, age-appropriate, fitted her perfectly, and most importantly, she looked very happy wearing it. Her hairstyle was very neat. And those shoes, women just love it when they are strappy and they sparkle at the same time.

My dear Anne, I promise not to talk about this gown as long as you eat a little bit more. I will always love you.

I have heard that Jennifer Lawrence tripped over when her gown got stuck on a chair. I knew that huge bundle of a train spelled trouble from the moment I saw it.

Speaking of beautiful clothes, my cousin-in-law has a lovely collection in her online clothing store. She just got invited by UsTrendy to be featured in their website. Good job! It’s a delightful knowledge that I am surrounded with people that can be my daily source of inspiration.

Charlize Theron stopped heartbeats at this year’s CinemaCon. She wore a little black dress with some sexy cutouts by Dion Lee.

I would definitely kill to own a dress like this. Won’t you?

Also last April, Kim Kardashian was seen flaunting with diamond-studded gold earrings with Kanye West’s initials. I am in love with how they are very personalized and very unique at the same time. I would love to make my own when I have extra money.

Sarkozy just lost the French Presidential race. That means no more Carla Bruni. Princess Letizia now stands alone in fashion face-offs. Remember this famous photograph? That is Princess Letizia on the left wearing a layered body-hugging dress by a Spanish designer, and that is Carla Bruni on the right wearing Christian Dior from head to toe. Did you notice the famous red sole? I did. I noticed the sole but I did not even realized that Michelle Obama was in this photo until three years later. Gosh!

This must be the first time in her life as First Lady that Carla Bruni met her match. And she was very well got upstaged big time by the Spanish princess. But not so much like Michelle Obama. That is Michelle Obama in a sorry looking white and raspberry dress. I thought she was a personal assistant or something like that. I felt really bad for Michelle. So much for learning your lesson the hard way.

DOWNGRADE OR UPGRADE. I know that Kanye West can be seriously annoying, but to break up with to hook up with Wiz Khalifa, I don’t know what to say.

Speaking of performance, Taylor Swift’s number was the only performance that I did not fast forward, except for the half part of the Rihanna and Coldplay duo, in other words, the part where Coldplay performed “Paradise” sans Rihanna. Sorry Rihanna, I only want you in music videos.

As for Adele, I have seen her perform that song many times and my husband keeps playing it at home so I thought I would skip it.

About Nicki Minaj, she looks like a poor imitation of Lady G and Madonna. Hohummm. What could I be missing, right?

I love Taylor but I am really sorry that I cannot say the same for Taylor’s outfit. Her hair was too severe, in other words, too unmade for an awards night. Her dress looked too Forever 21. No offense. I shop too at Forever 21. Just never for the Grammy’s, if ever I would get a chance. In fact, her body looked like a hanger against that oversized dress. But I loved her performance, as I have said earlier. It was musically inferior compared to the other performers but it was the most fun and was even better than its music video. Her whimsical facial expressions were undeniably very cute.

I think the most beautiful lady for that night was Katy Perry. Even her silly blue hair looked va-va-voom and sleek on her. Was it the post-divorce glow or the 2 million worth of diamonds that she was wearing? Probably both.

Rihanna is a beautiful woman and her sex appeal is screaming. But this dress looks better on Jennifer Aniston. She could use a more muted lip color too.

This is what I am talking about. When it comes to little black dress, Jennifer Aniston simply owns it!

BRITNEY SPEARS.

I have always been supportive of Britney Spears. I was so happy when she dazzled at the VMAS  2010 in a sparkly Versace dress.

Imagine the disappointment when she showed up at the Grammy’s looking like she just rolled out of bed in her nighties and put some sad makeup on.

BRUNO MARS.

Dolce and Gabbana delivered it for Bruno Mars. He was actually looking cool…until you look down.  That just breaks my heart. Cropped trousers and no socks? Whatever was your point, I don’t get it.

FERGIE FERG.

This was just wrong for a lot of reasons. The orange color on her skin tone. The black undies. The only excuse I can think of it is mid-life crisis. Knowing if you dressed up properly is simple: If people notice the person instead of the dress, that is a good thing. If people notice the dress instead of the person, you might want to check yourself at the mirror again.

Finally, Kelly Rowland. Another beautiful woman with a bad stylist. Bad hair stylist, to be precise. I am not feeling it. This would have been fine…if she was ten years old.

For the sake of saying something nice, here is 14-year old Hailee Steinfeld hitting all the right notes at the Red Carpet in a Marchesa gown and Ferragamo shoes and clutch.

Annie versus April

I was watching the Prom episode of Beverly Hills 90210 this evening when I saw Annie trying on a very familiar dress. It was the H&M dresses that I gave to April to wear on my wedding.  Instead of wearing traditional wedding dresses, I had my Bride’s Maids’ wear regular cocktail dresses so they can wear them again in other parties. I had to shop for them myself, individually scouting at every boutique just to find the perfect one for every one of them . I was happy with the result and this is probably the biggest proof of it.  🙂

This is definitely the highlight of my day. 🙂 Way to go for my personal shopper career. LOL

Now I know why I did not find H&M‘s new Conscious Collection. I was a day too early. Tsktsk. It is officially on display starting the 6th of this month. I have to go back to buy these. Not all of them. Just a few. We’ll see. 😉

They are super chic. A lot of colors going on. Just perfect against the falling leaves of fall. I love the shoes, most especially! I can walk with them all day!

H&M just opened in Singapore. So to my Singaporean friends, get ready!

Today I received the biggest compliment for the longest time. I slipped again into a tight-fitting size 8 skirt. I sort of forced it a little bit, but that does not matter. The end justifies the means for me. 🙂 To continue with our story of happy endings, the cashier guy told me I completed his day with my extraordinary beauty. Hahahah! Thanks to my makeup skills for that. It makes me sound so dumb but ladies should take the art of applying makeup seriously. If A + B = C, then woman + beauty = power. 😉 A beautiful woman is a very powerful one.
